こんにちは。トモキ86です。
今回は11月19日PM1:35～1:45と、11月20日AM6:35～6:45放送の
「リトル・チャロ」から英語を学んでいきたいと思います。

いつも撮影を見守っているカレン
彼女の家には なぜかトモコのお母さんとの写真がありました

Charo and Tonko have discovered some surprising news.
チャロとトンコは 驚くべき事実に気づきました
You mean Karen is Tomoko’s grandmother?
カレンが トモコのおばあちゃんだと？
Yeah. Do you think Karen knows?
そうよ！ カレンは 知ってるのかしら？
I think she might. She said something.
たぶん知っていると思う だってカレンは…
I want to see her film more than anything.
She means so much to me.
私はあの子の映画を どうしてもこの目で見たいのよ
あの子は 私の大切な人なの
Yes. Karen might know.
ふむ… カレンは知っているのかも
We have to tell Tomoko. Let's go.
早くトモコに知らせなきゃ！ 行こう！

Wait?
え？
I don’t think Karen wants Tomoko
to know she is her grandmother.
カレンは トモコのおばあちゃんだと 知られてくないんだろう

どうして？
It's a long story.
長い話だ…
Karen and her husband Eizaburo opened
a group home for kids in Los Angeles.
カレンと夫の英三郎は ロサンゼルスで
子どものためのグループホームを始めた
But a few years later, she realized
other children needed her help.
Then she left for Africa.
数年後 自分の助けを必要としている子供が
他にもいると気づいた
そして カレンはアフリカへと旅立った
She promised Eizaburo not to return
until she had finished what she started.
目標を達成するまでは決して帰国しないと
英三郎と約束してな
Really.
そんなことが…
Karen kept her promise.
Even when Eizaburo died, she did not return to America.
She kept working hard to help children.
カレンは約束を守った
英三郎が死んだときも アメリカに戻らず 子どもたちのために働いた
But she did get a letter from Mari.
だが ある日 娘のマリから手紙が届いた
What did it say?
何て書いてあったの？
It said, why didn’t you come home?
Don’t you love your family?
そこには… 「なんで帰ってこなかったの？
ママは家族を愛してないの？」
It also said.
You are not my mother anymore. Just stay in Africa.
I will take care of the Aster home.
さらに…
あなたなんてもう母親じゃない！ 帰って来ないで！
アスターは私が引き継ぎますから
Not her mother anymore?
もう母親じゃない…？
But few years later. Karen did come back.
それから数年が過ぎ カレンは帰国した
Karen thought about it for a long time.
Then she went to the home.
But when she got there.
カレンは迷ったあげく アスターへと向かうことにした
ところが いざ行ってみると…
May I help you, dear?
うちに何かご用ですか？
Oh, yes, please. I’m ...
May I speak to the person in charge?
あっ！ すみません あの… 代表の方はいらっしゃいますか？
You mean Mari? She is out right now.
マリさんですか？ 今ちょっと留守ですけど…
Oh. How’s she doing?
そう… 彼女は元気にしてますか
Oh, she’s okay. But it's been hard.
ええ 元気ですよ でも いろいろ大変だったみたいでね

大変？
Oh, well, it's a terrible story.
まあ… ひどい話なんですよ
A couple years ago Mari’s father died,
but her mother was gone somewhere in Africa
and didn’t come back.
数年前に父親が死んだっていうのに…
母親はアフリカに行ったきりで 帰ってきやしない
Mari was living in Japan then.
There was nothing she could do.
She got divorced, moved back to America,
and took over the Aster home.
日本に住んでいたマリさんは―
しかたなく離婚までして アメリカに戻り ここを継いだんですよ
What? She got divorced?
え？ 離婚した？
That’s right. And it's all because of her mother.
そうですよ 全部 母親のせいですからね
Who are you?
おばあちゃん… 誰？
What? Me? Ah... I’m...
え？ 私？ えっと… 私は…
Would you like to leave a message for Mari, dear?
伝言を承りましょうか？
Oh, no. Thank you.
いえ… 結構です
Karen feels she can't show her face
to her family anymore.
カレンは 家族に顔向けできないと思っているんだ
That’s why she didn’t tell Tomoko
she was her grandmother.
She thinks Tomoko might hate her.
だからトモコに名乗らなかったのね！
名乗ったら嫌われると思ったんだわ
That’s right. Let's leave it alone.
All Karen wants is to see Tomoko’s movie
before her surgery.

The next day, Karen and Tomoko
see each other again in Central Park.
翌日 カレンとトモコは セントラルパークで顔を合わせます

Yes, we have lots to do.
ええ やることがたくさんあって…

to finish the movie in a month.
なんとかして あと１か月で 映画を完成させなきゃ！
Charo has new goal something he wants to do
for a very special woman and her grand mother.
チャロの新たな目標は チャロにとって特別な女性と―

At the Zoo 動物園 英語／日本語訳
The film crew is at the zoo in Central Park.
撮影隊は セントラルパークにある動物園に やって来ました
In the movie, Charo is looking for Yoko
and meeting many animals along the way.
チャロがヨーコを捜して 動物たちと出会うシーンの撮影です
Please make sure not to excite the animals.
くれぐれも 動物を刺激しないでください
We will be very careful.

Yes. Let's finish the movie.

The first shot is at the seal area.

Do you know Yoko? I’m looking for her.
こんにちは 僕 チャロ
ヨーコって知ってる？ 捜してるんだけど…
Sorry little fellow. I don’t know her.
おちびちゃんよ 悪いけど 知らないな
Cut. Great.
カットー！ いいわね
They move on to the polar bear.
続いては シロクマです
Ready Action.
よーい… アクション！
I’m looking for Yoko.
僕 ヨーコを捜しているんだ
Yoko? Never heard of her.
ヨーコ？ 聞いたことないな
Cut. Perfect.
カットー！ ばっちりよ！
Filming is going smoothly.
Next is the chimpanzee.
Oh, hi, Minerva.
あ！ こんにちは ミネルバ
Hello, Charo.
I’m so very, very happy to see you again.
やあ チャロ また会えて オイラは胸がいっぱいだ！
Really? Thanks.
ほんと？ うれしいな
Minerva is the star of the zoo.
He gave Charo some pointers on acting before.
ミネルバは この動物園のスター
かつてチャロに演技を教えました
Oh, Minelva. Nice to see you again.
あら ミネルバ また会えたわね
Oh, it's you.
え？ あ 君は…
Minerva remembers Tonko’s dance moves
that blew him away.
ミネルバの脳裏に トンコが見せたダンスが よみがえります

よし！ いいところを見せるぞ
Places, everybody. Ready Action.
じゃあ いくわよ よーい… アクション！
Minerva, have you seen Yoko?
ミネルバ ヨーコを見なかった？
Yoko, is it?
ヨーコかい？
♪You need Yoko.
You yearn for Yoko.
You search for Yoko.
♪君にはヨーコが必要さ
ヨーコに恋焦がれている
そしてヨーコを捜している
What in the world is wrong with this chimpanzee?
Tonko, how was my dancing?
どうだい トンコ オイラのダンスは？
That was dancing?
今のは ダンスだったの？
We can't use any of that. But it's all right.
We got good shots of the other animals.
We don’t need the chimpanzee.
これじゃ このシーンは使えないわね でもいいわ
What? But. Now just hold on a second.
え？ そんな… ちょっと 待ってくれよ！
What's next?
次は何？
The lion. I definitely want the lion.
ライオンよ これだけは外したくないの
All right. Let's go. the lion’s this way.
よし 行こう ライオンはこっちだよ

またね ミネルバ
No, wait. Just give me another chance. Tonko. Charo.
待ってくれ！ もう一度チャンスをくれよ！ トンコ！ チャロ！
Minerva leaps onto the fence.
ミネルバは フェンスに飛びつきます
Tonko. Tonko. Woa.
トンコ！ トンコ!!
Oh, no.
危ない！
Minerva.
ミネルバ！
Minerva falls hard onto the ground.
It seems he has hurt himself.
ミネルバは 下に落ちてしまいました
どうやら ケガをしてしまったようです
Ouch.
Then comes the really bad news.
そして 恐れていたことが…
Yeah, we have a problem.
Minerva is the star of the zoo.
困りましたね ミネルバは ウチのスターなんですよ
But, we didn’t do anything.
でも 私たちは何もしていません
Even so, I’m sorry but
you still can't shoot anymore in the zoo.
そうだとしても もう園内での撮影はお断りします
Oh, come on. You can't do that to us.
そんな… 一方的すぎます！
Now we’ll never finish the film
before Karen’s surgery.
これじゃ カレンの手術に 間に合わなくなっちゃうよ
That night, Minerva comes to visit Tonko.
その夜 ミネルバが トンコのところにやって来ました
Tonko! Tonko!
トンコ！ トンコ！
Minerva? How did you get here?
ミネルバ？ どうやってここに？
Minerva with a sad look can only stare at Tonko.
ミネルバは 悲しそうな表情で トンコをただ見つめるのでした
