今回は11月12日PM1:35～1:45と、11月13日AM6:35～6:45放送の
「リトル・チャロ」から英語を学んでいきたいと思います。

Tomoko and Yoko are having a serious discussion.
トモコとヨーコは 深刻な表情で 打合せ中です
Oh… the filming is taking too long.
We're going to run out of money.
う～ん… このペースで撮影していたら 予算オーバーね
But we can't shoot any faster.
Even Charo is tired already.
これ以上 早くは無理よ チャロも疲れているわ
I’m okay. Don’t worry about me.
僕なら大丈夫だよ 心配しないで
Can we cut costs somehow?
Use fewer people, maybe?
出費を減らせないの？ スタッフを減らすとか
Fewer than now? Impossible.
スタッフを減らす？ 無理よ
What are you guys talking about?
Maybe I can help.
何の話をしているの？私も仲間に入れて
Oh. Tonko.
トンコ！
Tonko tears the paper on the table.
トンコは テーブルの書類を 破ってしまいました
Tonko. Get out of here.
トンコ！ あっちに行ってなさい！
There is somebody we don’t really need.
あの子は必要ないんじゃない？
What?
え？
Oh, yeah.
う～ん… そうね…
Don’t really need?
必要… ない？
Tonko rushes out of the apartment.
トンコは家を飛び出しました
Actually, no. We need all the crew.
やっぱりダメ スタッフは全員必要だわ
Having left the apartment,
Tonko runs all the way to Central Park.
And there.
アパートを出たとトンコは セントラルパークをさまよいます
すると…
Good evening, what are you doing out here so late?
やあ こんな夜遅くに 何をしているんだ？
Nestor.
ネストル！
Tomoko said she doesn’t need me.
トモコが 私なんかいらないって…
Oh, come now. That can't be true.
Tomoko is like a mother to you.
何を言っているんだ？ そんなことあるわけない
トモコは 君の母親のようなものだろう？
No. I’m just staying with her.
That’s not my home.
一緒に住んでるだけ 私はただの居候なのよ
What are you talking about?
どういうことだい？
Well, I grew up in the circus.
私 サーカス団で育ったの
The circus?
サーカス団？
Yeah. But the circus master was a very scary man.
Every day he would yell and crack his whip.
ええ そこの団長が とっても怖い人で
毎日ムチを振り上げて どなっていたわ
So one day. I ran away.
それで私… 逃げ出したの

And I hid in Tomoko’s apartment.
She doesn’t really want me there.
She just let me stay.
そして逃げ込んだのが トモコの家だったの
トモコは 好きで飼ってくれているんじゃない
部屋に置いてくれているだけ

Tonko goes back to Tomoko’s apartment.
Tomoko is getting ready for tomorrow’s shoot.
トンコは 家に戻ってきました トモコは 明日の撮影の準備をしています
Tonko? You're home late.
トンコ？ 遅かったわね
How did you know it was me?
何で私って分かったのかしら？
Your dinner’s ready.
夕食 用意してあるわよ
There is a bowl of carrots on the table,
Tonko’s favorite. And, there's a card.
テーブルの上に置いてあったのは トンコの大好物のニンジン

Tonko, it's been one year today sine you came to live with me
You’ve made my life so much fun. Thank you.

トモコ…
Charo was waiting up for you, too. But he fell asleep.
チャロも さっきまで 起きて待っていたんだけどね

And then Tonko knew she was home.

Karen and Eight are watching from a bench nearby.
今日もセントラルパークで映画の撮影中
カレンとエイトが その様子を近くで眺めています
Seeing them, Charo and Tonko walk over.
チャロとトンコが 近寄って来ました
Charo, you always put your heart and soul
into it, don’t you?
チャロ 今日もずいぶん頑張っているわね
Say, Eight. You always watch so closely.
Are you interested in acting?
ねえ エイト いつも熱心に見てるわね
役者になりたいの？
Not me. I just watch because Karen does.
カレンが見ているから 一緒にいるだけだ
Charo, Tonko, what are you doing?
Oh, hello again, ma’am.
チャロ トンコ 何してるの？ あら こんにちは
Hello, dear. How’s the filming going?
こんにちは 撮影は順調なの？
Oh, well. Actually this is my first time to make a movie.
It's harder than I thought.
はあ… 実は… 映画の撮影は初めての経験で…
なかなか思うように進まなくて

But my friends are really helping me a lot.
And I’m having fun.
でも 心強い仲間に囲まれて なんとか楽しくやってます

I want to see her film more than anything.
She means so much to me.
あの子の映画を どうしても この目で見たいのよ

Later that evening,
Tomoko and Yoko are talking on the sofa.
その日の夕方 トモコとヨーコが ソファーで話をしています
Say, Tomoko, where does your grandmother live?
ねえ トモコのおばあちゃんは どこで何してるの？
My grandmother?

Your mother told it to you.
Now you made that story into a movie, right?

I don’t know where she is.
I've only met her once.

to have surgery in a mouth.
そうなんだ チャロ 実は… １か月後に手術をするんだ

Tomoko’s mom’s name is Mari.
Eight, where is Mari now?

She’s in Los Angeles. She runs a group home.
It's called the Aster home.
ロサンゼルスで グループホームを運営している

It's Karen.
