リトル・チャロ (46) A True Star 星のたぬき 英語／日本語訳

「リトル・チャロ」から英語を学んでいきたいと思います。

この世を乱す 伝説の妖怪の力を封じるため

一歩ずつ成長していくのだった

わあ きれいな星だなあ！
The stars are especially lovely tonight.
今夜は特に星がきれいだね
Yep. Not a cloud in the sky.
Just gorgeous.
Who's that?
ん？ 誰だろう？
Look. That’s Ursa Minor. The little bear.
That’s my constellation, with the North star.
見て あれがぼくの星座 こぐま座
あの中には北極星があるんだぜ
Over there is procyon. It's in Canis Minor, the little dog.
My constellation.
You're so lucky.
いいなあ…
There's no Raccoon dog, huh?
タヌキ座は… ないんだよね？
No... there's not.
うん… ないんだ
Poor you...
残念だね…
You're strong in the rain and wind.
You deserve a constellation.

やあ ブドリ ブドリは 自分の星座が欲しいの？
Yeah, for some reason there isn’t one.
You could make a fine Raccoon Dog with just three stars.
But, I guess we're not cool enough.
うん なぜかタヌキ座ってないんだ
３つくらい星が並んでいるだけでも いいのになぁ
でも タヌキなんてかっこ悪いしね
How come? I think raccoon dogs are cool.
You are really nice, too.
そんなあ ぼくはタヌキってかっこいいと思うよ
ブドリはとても優しそうだし
You think I’m nice?

いやあ… 優しいだなんて そうだ ぼくの家に来ない？
It's small, but it's home.
ここがぼくの家だよ 狭いけど

星座の形を作ってるんだ

thousands of times bigger than our sun.
星は不思議だよ 小さく見えるけど
実は太陽の何千倍も大きかったりするんだ

ところで君は どうしてここに来たの？
I’m looking for the eight star talismans.
Without them, two evil creature will awake soon.
八ツ星の札っていう お札を探しているんだ
それがないと 悪い妖怪が復活してしまうんだ
Wow. And you have to stop them?
すごい！ 君がそれを食い止めるの？
It's my fault the talismans disappeared.
ぼくのせいで お札が飛び散ったから
You're so brave.

おいおい 聞いたかい？
Yeah, I heard. Out west, an unknown boy appeared
and helped an old lady carry her bundle of rice.
聞いたよ 西の村に謎の少年が現れて 稲の束を運んでくれたらしい
And, a strange boy appeared
and stopped a fight up north of here, too.
北の村では知らない少年が えんかを仲裁したっていうしなあ
It's nice, but kind of creepy, too.
ありがたいけど 奇妙な話だなあ
What is it, Budori?
どうしたの ブドリ？
Oh, nothing.
何でもないよ
Charo, you remember what those men were talking about?
Well, that.. that was me, in human form, doing those things.
チャロ 村の人たちが うわさしていたのはね…
実は… ぼくが人の姿に化けてしていたことなんだ
What?
え？
But, I don’t want anyone to know about it.
Raccoon dogs changing form that scares them.
でも ぼくは それを誰にも知られたくない
タヌキが化けて出たなんて 嫌だろうからね
But why? Those things you did helped people.
どうして？ ブドリは人のためにいいことをしたんでしょ？
You know, my father was really good at changing form.
僕のお父さんはね 人間に化けるのが とてもうまかったんだ
He was a very nice raccoon dog.
One day, a little boy got sick.
My father changed into a man
and carried him to the doctor.
父さんは優しいタヌキだった ある日 人間に化けて
病気の子どもを 医者まで運んであげたんだ
He saved the boy. But when the villagers found out
my father was a raccoon dog...
they said it was his fault the boy got sick
and they attacked my father.
おかげで子どもは助かったけど 村の男の正体がタヌキだと気づき…
病気は化けたタヌキのせいだ言って 父さんを殴りつけたんだ
That’s sad.
そんな…
People think we raccoon dogs trick people.
人間はね タヌキが人をだますと思っているんだ
They should be thankful,
to you and to your father.
本当はブドリもお父さんも 人間から感謝されていいはずなのに
Well, we don’t do those things for thanks.
いやあ ぼくらは 褒められたいわけじゃないから
Out east, Little Shunichi is very sick.
He's been unconscious for three days.
東の村でシュンイチが倒れた！ ３日も意識がないらしい
What? But he's only five.
えっ？ まだ５歳なのに！
There are herbs they could give him for his fever, but...
せめて 熱冷ましの薬草があれば…
Shunichi.
シュンイチだって？
You know him?
知ってるの？
Yeah, Shunichi is the son of the village head.
He took care of me when I was sick. He saved my life.
うん シュンイチは村長さんの息子だ
ぼくの看病してくれた 命の恩人なんだ
You have to help him.
早く助けないと
I will. I know where the herbs for fever grow.
もちろんさ ぼくは薬草の在りかを知っている

that change form. I must go far, far away.
