今回は9月24日PM1:35～1:45と、9月25日AM6:35～6:45放送の
「リトル・チャロ」から英語を学んでいきたいと思います。

あらすじ：これまでのリトル・チャロ
映画の撮影で 再びニューヨークを訪れたチャロ
トモコたちとの新しい生活が始まりました

Tomoko and her friend Carl are having dinner at a restaurant.
Charo and Tonko are with them.

It's a love story about a little dog and his owner.
子犬と飼い主の愛の物語よ
A love story?
愛の物語？
Uh-huh. The dog lives happily with his owner, Yoko.
主人公の子犬は 飼い主のヨーコと 幸せに暮らしていたの
Then, one day, Yoko is in a car accident.
She loses her memory.
ところがある日 ヨーコは事故に遭い―
記憶を失ってしまうの

え！
She doesn’t even remember her own dog.
The little dog is left all alone. But he waits and waits for her,
believing she will come back to him. That’s the story.
ヨーコは子犬のことも忘れてしまった
でも いつかヨーコが自分のもとに 帰って来てくれると信じて ずっと待ち続ける
そんな物語よ

私も そこが知りたかったのよ なぜあなたじゃなきゃいけないの チャロ？
I came to New York once with my owner Shota.
But when he flew back to Japan, I was left behind by mistake.
飼い主の翔太と一緒に ニューヨークに来たことがあるんだ
でも 日本に帰るときに―手違いで取り残されちゃったんだ
Left behind?
取り残された？
Yeah. Charo was left lost, all alone in a big city, far from home.
But he was strong and brave. He wanted to see Shota again so much.
That’s when I met him.
そう 日本から遠く離れたこの街で たった１匹
でも チャロは 飼い主に会いたい一心で 懸命に生き続けた
そんなとき 私たちは出会ったの
What a story.
へえ！ すごい話だな！
It was a cloudy, gray Sunday morning.
どんよりと曇ったある日曜の朝だった
I was so hungry I thought I would die.
Then Tomoko gave me a sausage.
And she took me back to her warm, wonderful home.
おなかがすいて 死にそうだった僕に トモコはソーセージをくれたんだ―
そして 暖かい家に連れて行ってくれた
Tomoko is so sweet.
トモコったら なんて優しいの
Sounds like destiny.
And that’s why you chose Charo for the movie.
まさに運命だな だから チャロをこの映画に抜てきしたんだね
Well, that’s not the only reason. There's more to the story.
それだけじゃないわ この話には続きがあるの

It was my first job as a scriptwriter.
I had to deliver the script before the deadline.
But I slipped and hurt myself.
私の脚本が初めて世に出るかもしれない という大切な日に―
足を滑らせて ケガをしてしまったの
If I missed the deadline, my dream would end. Charo saved me.
締め切りまでに届けなければ チャンスは消える そのとき救ってくれたのが チャロ

I ran all the way to Broadway
and delivered her script just in time.
And by chance, Shota’s father Ichiro was there.
ブロードウェイまで走って 時間ぎりぎりに 脚本を届けたんだ
するとそこに 翔太のパパがいた！

Charo’s exciting, unpredictable life in New York has just begun.

Charo is shooting a movie here.
ここはニューヨークのセントラルパーク
チャロたちが 映画の撮影をしています
The star of this scene is a special flower.
今日の主役は１本の花
This is an aster.
これは アスターっていう花よ
Aster?
アスター？
Pretty, isn’t it?
In the language of flowers, it means faith.
It symbolizes a believing heart.
きれいでしょ
花言葉は「信頼」よ 「信じる心」を象徴しているの

It doesn’t usually bloom this time of year.
It was hard to get this one.
この季節には なかなか咲かないの
やっと手に入れたのよ

A believing heart. That’s just like Tomoko.
信じる心… トモコらしいわ
What is it?
ん？ 何が？
Tomoko’s mother runs a home for kids in Los Angeles.
It's called the Aster Home.
トモコのお母さんが ロサンゼルスで福祉施設をやっているの
その名前が アスターホームよ
Really.
へえ
It's a small group home for kids who can't live with their parents.
The children there don’t know if they will ever see
their mothers and fathers again.
親と離れて暮らす子どもたちのための 小さなグループホームなの
みんな 両親とまた会えるのか 不安を抱えているわ
Tomoko wanted to help them.
That is why she decided to make the movie.
トモコは 彼らの力になりたくて この映画を作ろうと決めたのよ
So the aster, believing heart is important to her.
だからアスターが 「信じる心」が 大切なんだ
That’s right. She wants the children to believe in their hearts
that they will see their parents again.
そうよ 両親とまた会えると信じる心を 子どもたちに持ってほしいのよ
Tomoko is so kind.
トモコったら なんて優しいの
Charo. you're on. Hurry up. Meep.
チャロ ぐずぐずしないで 早くスタンバイよ！
Tonko, be careful.
あっ！ 危ない トンコ！
In a rush, Tonko trips. She flies through the air.
慌てたトンコは 派手につまづいてしまいました
And then.
そして…
Meep.
Arf, arf. Tonko, are you okay?
トンコ 大丈夫？
The aster.
あ！ アスターが…
Oh, no. It's ruined. What about the scene?
これじゃあ 撮影に使えないわ
I had to beg a florist friend of mine for that.
It's very rare this time of year.
We’ll never get another one.
知り合いの花屋さんに頼んで やっと譲ってもらったの
なかなか手に入らないのよ
Meep. Oh, this is all my fault.
どうしよう…
Suddenly, Charo and Tonko hear a voice from overhead.
突然 チャロとトンコの頭上から 声がしました
There are asters blooming by Turtle Pond in the middle of the park.
アスターなら 公園中央のタートル池のほとりに 咲いている
An owl is sitting on a branch above Charo and Tonko.
１羽のフクロウが 木の枝にとまっていました
Who are…
え？ …君は？
Are you sure?
本当でしょうね？
I just saw them this morning.
Believe me or don’t. it's up to you.
今朝 見たところさ 信じる信じないは 君たち次第だ
Okay, Charo. let's go.
オーケー チャロ 行くわよ
Wait for me, Tonko.
待って トンコ
Charo and Tonko head for Turtle Pond. And then.
チャロとトンコは タートル池を目指します すると…
There. There they are.
あ！ あった！
Asters. And they're blooming. I can't believe it.
アスターが咲いてる！ 信じられない
All right.
やった！
Charo and Tonko take one aster back with them.
Tomoko and the others are amazed.
２人がアスターを持ち帰ると―トモコたちは驚きました
Wow. Great. Thanks, guys.
２人ともありがとう
Okay, let's get this one. Ready. Action.
さあ 気合いを入れて！ よーい… アクション！
Charo, whatever happens, we will always be together.
チャロ 何があっても一緒だからね

The actors and the aster are able to finish the scene.
アスターが手に入り 撮影は無事終了
