リトル・チャロ (12) CAST カードのお告げ 英語／日本語訳
こんにちは。トモキ86です。
今回は6月18日 PM1:35～1:45と、6月19日AM6:35～6:45放送の
「リトル・チャロ」から英語を学んでいきたいと思います。
宜しくお願いします。

あらすじ：これまでのリトル・チャロ
スペーサー家で開かれたパーティー。
そこへやって来たのは、チャロが探していた猫のルイーザでした。

The mysterious cat from Chinatown was Louisa herself!
あのチャイナタウンの不思議な猫がルイーザでした！
Charo wants to see her inside the mansion,
but the windows are too high.
チャロは中をのぞこうとしますが 窓が高すぎます。
He tries to climb up a tree,
but of course, that's impossible.
木に登ろうとしても やはり無理
Charo! What are you trying to do!?
チャロ！ 何してるの!?
Candy runs closer, but...
キャンディが走り寄ってきますがー
Uh-oh!
She steps on somebody's tail!
おっと！
誰かのしっぽを踏んでしまいます
lt's...Paul.
ポールでした。
Oh! I'm sorry!
あっ ごめんなさい！
You just stepped on my tail!
オレさまのしっぽを踏んだな！
I...I'm really sorry.
ホントにごめんなさい！
Charo steps forward.
そこヘチャロが進み出ました
She says she's sorry.
彼女は謝っているじゃないか
Who are you? You're not from around here, are you?
なんだおまえは？ 見かけない顔だな。
Paul's voice is loud enough to attract the attention
of other cats and dogs.
ポールの大声にほかの猫や犬も振り向きます。
Frank comes running.
フランクが走ってきました。
What's going on?
何があったんだ？
My tail! It's broken! I'm injured!
オレのしっぽがあ！ 骨が折れたぞ！ 重傷だ！
Stop faking it.
痛がるふりはやめろ
What? Are you saying that I'm a liar?
なんだあ？ オレをうそつき呼ばわりする気か？
I'm just saying that we should act respectfully, that's all.
場をわきまえろと言ってるだけだ
Humph. You dogs. You just serve humans,
the way they want you to.
お前ら犬は人間に仕えてるだけじゃん。言いなりになってな。
We always try to be responsible. We're not like cats.
我々は常に責任ある行動を大事にしている 猫とは違ってな。
This obviously provokes them.
その言葉に猫たちがいきり立ちました
Ow, what do you mean?
ミヤーオ どういうことよ？
We're independent. We're not like dogs.
オレたちは自立してるのさ 犬なんかとは違ってね
You're all so selfish!
それはワガママつてことだ！
Say that again, you dog!
なんだともう一度言ってみろ！
The dogs and cats are ready
to pounce on each other.
犬も猫もまさに飛びかかろうとした。
But then...
そのときー
Enough!
やめなさい！
Sir Joseph has come out.
Frank looks back.
サー･ジョゼフでした。フランクが気を取られた瞬間―
Paul catches the moment
and jumps on Frank with his claws out.
ポールが爪をむき出しにしてフランクに飛びかかりました。
Charo throws himself against Paul….
チャロはポールに体当たり
And this makes Paul plunge into his fellow cats.
ポールは猫たちの中に突っ込みました。
Just then, Louisa appears.
そのときルイーザが現れました。
Charo. You just protected your fellow dogs and cats from harming each other.
チャロあなたのおかげで犬も猫も互いを傷つけずにすんだのよ。
You're brave.
勇敢なのね
Louisa!
ルイーザ！
Yes, I'm her.
Sorry about the other night.
そう私がルイーザよ。
この間はごめんなさい。
Listen, how would you like to come over
to my place tomorrow?
ねぇ 明日家へいらっしゃらない？
Louisa silently checks with Sir Joseph.
ルイーザは無言でサー･ジョゼフに確認します。
He answers with a nod.
彼はうなずき返しました
Oh, Aimee has come out!
I suppose it is time for goodbye.
エイミーさんが出ていらした！
今晩はここまでですね。
Sending them off, Charo feels proud of himself.
彼女たちを見送りながら チャロは誇らしい気持ちになりました
The day after the party,
Charo arrives at Louisa and Aimee's place.
パーティの翌日チャロはルイーザとエイミーの家にやって来ました。
He goes through the cat door and walks forward.
Louisa is sitting on a rug, smiling quietly.
キャットドアから入ると
ルイーザはラグに座り ほほえんでいました
Welcome, Charo.
I've been waiting for you.
いらっしゃいチャロ
待ってたわ
Thank you for inviting me.
お招きありがとう
Charo goes closer to Louisa,
and sits on the nice soft rug.
チャロはルイーザのそばに行き
ふかふかのラグの上に座りました
So tell me. How is Margherita?
I'm sure she hasn't changed a bit.
それでマルゲリータは元気？きっと相変わらずね
She sometimes sings songs for us.
We go shopping together, too.
ときどき歌を歌ってくれるんだ。
いっしよに買い物にも行くよ
Ah, that's her! No doubt about it.
マルゲリータらしいわ！ ほんとに！
Louisa…. Why did you and Aimee come to Chicago?
ルイーザ あなたとエイミーはなぜシカゴに来たの？
Louisa silently takes out some cards from under the sofa.
ルイーザは黙ってソファの下からカードを取り出しました。
She spreads them out
and makes the word "CHICAGO."
それを広げ ＣＨＩＣＡＧＯの文字を並べました。
Cards.... Is that why you came here?
カード…それが理由？
Uh-huh. These cards told us to. So we did.
そう カードに従って来たのよ
And right after we settled in,
Aimee's novel suddenly became a bestseller.
移って来てすぐに エイミーの小説が 突然ベストセラーになったの
So! You said you have a dream.
Do you want me to see how it'll turn out?
そう！ 夢があるんだったわね 占ってあげましようか？
Really? Thank you, Louisa!
いいの？ ありがとうルイーザ！
You're welcome.

The gifted cat looks into Charo's eyes.
不思議な力を持つ猫はチャロの瞳をのぞきこみます
Then she reshuffles the cards
and spreads them out once again.
そしてカードを混ぜて もう一度広げました
Before we go on, I need you to understand.
Fortune-telling doesn't really tell the future.
最初にわかってほしいの
占いは本当に未来を告げるわけではないの
What do you mean?
どういうこと？
Even if the cards say something,
it doesn't always happen that way.
カードが何かを告げても いつもそうなるとはかぎらない
What really counts is to believe in yourself.
大切なのは自分自身を信じること
Believe in yourself, and your dreams will come true.
そうすれば夢はかなうわ
Charo is reminded of Tomoko
who said the same thing to him.
チャロは同じことを言っていた トモコのことを思い出しました
Hmm...according to the cards,
it seems you should stay...east.
カードは「東にとどまれ」と言つてるわ
East!? But west is closer to Japan!
東!? でも西のほうが日本に近いよ
There is somebody who needs you there.
Somebody with short hair… maybe...a boy?
東にあなたを必要としてる人が…
髪の短い人…男の子かしら？
A boy? Is it...Shota?
男の子？ 翔太？
I'm not sure. But if you go back east,
there should be a clue.
わからない
でも東に戻ると きっと手がかりがあるわ
Charo is at a loss.
Louisa then draws four other cards.
チャロはどうしていいかわかりません
ルイーザは４枚のカードを引きました

もっとはっきりしたことがわかると思っていたのね？

Louisa nods.
ルイーザはうなずきます

じやあひとつ教えて。シカゴで一番よかったことは何？
I talked with many other dogs...and cats.
たくさんの犬と話したこと それから猫とも

みんなどうだった？
They were all different...and interesting.
みんなそれぞれ違っていて おもしろかった
Very good. Stay open to others, listen to them,
but always look into yourself.
そう 心を開いて まわりの声をよく聞いて
でも常に自分を見つめなさい

Tears start to roll down Charo's cheeks.
Louisa softly kisses him.
涙がチャロのほおを流れます ルイーザはそっとキスをしました

少し落ち着いた？
Yes. Thank you.
うん ありがとう
It is time for Charo to leave.
He says goodbye and Louisa sees him off.
去るべきときです チャロは別れを告げ ルイーザは見送ります。
